For VC-backed startups and PE-backed industrial and healthcare operators scaling engineering teams and technical platforms.
I help founders and Heads of Engineering scale technical teams, structure hiring, and make the architecture and buy-vs-build decisions that define a company's technical trajectory. Depending on what the business needs, that role sits in the CTO seat, the CPO seat, or both — embedded in the leadership team, not delivering a project from the outside.
My background spans two verticals where I've personally built and scaled technology from the ground up — not advised on from the outside.
Built on: Bluvision → HID Global exit; HID's Workplace Safety, Duress, and Location Services product lines.
Built on: Bluvision/HID industrial IoT deployments; HID's Condition Monitoring product leadership.
Co-own your technical hiring process, design the technical interview bar, and serve as a hands-on sounding board for your Head of Engineering — across DevOps, full-stack, data science, and AI/ML roles. I've scaled an engineering organization from a single founding engineer to 500+ at a VC-backed startup through to acquisition, and have headed M&A for a global technology company's entire solutions portfolio on a $100M+ budget.
Coaching and development for technical and cross-functional leaders.
Goal-setting, market and competitive context, and actionable roadmaps for scaling organizations.

Before any architecture change or hire, the first two weeks are purely diagnostic — understanding your team, stack, and constraints so recommendations fit your reality, not a template.
We uncover the root causes limiting scale — hiring bar, architecture debt, or org design — and prioritize what actually moves the business.
No slide-deck handoff. I co-own interviews, sit in architecture reviews, and stay accountable to outcomes as a standing technical partner.

“I've spent the last decade on both sides of the founder journey.”
At Razorfish, I grew a new client account from $300K to $12M in its first year, then went on to lead the firm's $40M global technology account with a team of 100+. At Vibes Media, I founded and built the Mobile Solutions Group into a full-service mobile agency, delivering work for the NFL, PGA, Comcast, Verizon, 3M, Sears, WWE, and Home Depot. Earlier in my career, I led McDonald's R&D initiatives in speed-of-service and in-store technology. Across every one of these, the throughline is the same: take an underbuilt team or account and scale it into something a major brand depends on.
I've applied that same pattern to my own company. I co-founded Bluvision and scaled its engineering organization from the ground up, leading it through acquisition by HID Global in 2016. I stayed on to lead product strategy and M&A for HID's IoT and Healthcare portfolio, including the acquisition of GuardRFID in 2023. As a fractional CTO today, that's the capability I bring to founders and Heads of Engineering, not just technical judgment, but a track record of actually scaling teams and growth, repeatedly, for organizations far bigger than any single startup.

Pilots, credentialing, and one department's "can you also do this" request can quietly turn a strong healthcare product into an unfunded custom project. See the framework for converting hospital pilots into repeatable, profitable revenue, built from having done it inside Mayo Clinic and other flagship health systems.

Beyond fractional CTO advisory, I am an active buyer for founder-owned IoT and healthcare technology companies typically $2–15M ARR, founder-led, 15+ years built. If you are considering a transition or exit, let's talk first as a potential acquirer, not just a consultant.
Each path starts with a direct conversation — no intermediaries, no banker fees at the front end, no obligation.
IoT, RTLS, or healthcare technology. $2–15M ARR. Founder-led with 15+ years of operation. No outside investors preferred.
I have been the founder on the other side of an acquisition. I understand what the transition actually looks like from inside the business.
A direct, confidential conversation. No LOI required, no banker in the room. Just two operators talking about whether there is a fit.
If you're scaling an engineering team, structuring your first technical hires, or need a fractional CTO who has built one before, I'd like to hear about it.
